This is good stuff, especially the bit with Viv, and the bit with the core team in the treehouse at the end.

I’m not so much sold on the stuff with CRADLE, but then I don’t really know those characters, yet.

And…the bit at the end…which I won’t spoil…when all hope seemed lost…yes…good.

The art is, of course, fantastic.

I’m just enjoying the hell out of this book.

This was…fine.

I was really looking forward to this when it was originally going to be part of Empyre, then got cancelled, and now it’s part of King In Black and…er…it shows. It’s not bad, at all, it just feels…disjointed.

This series may well improve over time, as we get to know all of these new characters. I mean, suddenly landing a whole load of new British super heroes on us…and never once mentioning Captain Britain (who is currently MIA over in the pages of Excalibur, but that’s a whole other thing…) feels…odd.

So, yeah, jury’s out on this one so far.

This is something of a breather issue as we come down from the whirlwind that was X Of Swords. Wind Dancer gets resurrected, and we find out exactly why she wanted to die…it was the only way to escape the Mojoverse. Williams is doing a great job of making Mojo and the Mojoverse feel genuinely threatening in a way that it really hasn’t in a very long time.

We also get a moment with Emma, mourning the loss of Santo, which was very well done.

I’d like to take a moment to single out the “Why didn’t you just leave?” text section. Which is both powerful and incredibly well written. I don’t know if it’s going to be relevant to the plot, and that almost doesn’t matter, but it’s a brilliant glimpse into an abusive relationship and I really hope that it helps some of the people that read it.

RIP Clive, we hardly knew thee…

Wild Child, Nanny and Orphan Maker are resurrected but they’re…changed…honed… And, more importantly, Orphan Maker needs a new containment suit lest his mutant power manifests and that CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN. It would be bad. Very bad. Oh, and the technology to build him a new one is held by The Right.

Oh, also, Sinister is keeping from the rest of the team exactly how they died. Mainly because he murdered them. It would probably be bad if they found out. Bad for Sinister, that is.

This continues to be the funniest X-book right now. It’s so much fun, and it’s beautifully illustrated too.
